Conservative man don't need her around anyhow - Madonna insults her fans

NEW ORLEANS — Madonna drew boos and triggered a walkout by several concertgoers after she touted President Barack Obama on her "MDNA Tour" in New Orleans.
The Material Girl asked during Saturday night's performance: "Who's registered to vote?" She added: "I don't care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama." Drawing boos in touting Obama over Republican Mitt Romney, Madonna followed: "Seriously, I don't care who you vote for ... Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote." (You can read Stacey Plaisance's full AP story here).

Every time Bono or Sean Penn open their stupid mouths - blame John Lennon!

Sean Penn has been in Argentina to demand that Britain hand back the Falklands. Apparently it's time we gave up our ridiculous colonial attitides (although, as someone pointed out, Penn hasn't yet offered to hand back his Malibu home to Mexico). Whenever some ghastly multi-millionaire entertainer opens their big fat gob to demand that the world rearranges itself politically in order to make them feel better about themselves, I’m reminded of John Lennon.

I've found the perfect right-wing rock song for the next Tory conference

There are few things more amusing in life than rock stars getting  into a sweat-panic at the prospect of being branded right-wing. It was doubly funny when Primal Scream threw a hissy fit on being told that “Rocks Off” had been used as a theme song by those horrid Tories at their Party Conference – and then discovered it wasn’t true.

You may never have heard of Alejandro Escovedo - but George Bush has

Twelve years ago, if you’d asked me whether I’d like to listen to an LP comprised of songs from a theatre production examining the agonies of post-war Mexican immigrants to the United States, I would have replied: “No, thank you. I would rather boil my testicles.” But around that time I was getting interested in Americana, a musical genre which mixes country with punk, rock, folk and rockabilly to form the latest version of what Gram Parsons called “Cosmic American Music”.

A solid job + conservative views = artistic genius

Charles Ives
I won’t read any novels or poems or listen to any classical music, unless a professional critic somewhere, at some time, has thoroughly approved of them. Isn’t that shameful?

I’m not sure I have ever bought a novel that didn’t have an approving quote on it, or read a poem that didn’t appear in an anthology from a reputable publisher or editor, or listened to a piece of classical music unless some authority has pronounced it worth hearing.
