I didn't mean to spend an hour this morning listening to James Delingpole interviewing the maker of the hugely influential online film, The Brexit Movie. But I made the mistake of listening to the first few minutes of the podcast...

Comics - is there anything they DON'T know?
Yes, indeed, Eric Idle - the lovable old madcap Python funster himself. So it's a joke, obviously. Only...

Do Europhiles or climate alarmists ever stop to consider the possibility that they might have got it ever-so-slightly wrong?
Let's face it - the chances of anyone on either side of the EU debate coming up with a new, game-changing argument between now and the referendum are remote. I suspect about one third of us have already decided to vote for staying in, another third already know they're going to vote to leave, and most of the rest, having pretended they've "listened to the arguments" but having in reality assiduously ignored them, will make a decision based largely on a vague fear of what the "stay" team will have remorselessly characterised as a terrifying, "Here Be Dragons" unknown (but is, of course, nothing of the sort) and vote to stay. And that - at least in my lifetime - will be that, because if the British aren't sufficiently disgusted by the EU's greed, incompetence, arrogance and corruption by now, they're never going to be.

Hail Roger Shrimplin, Planning Inspector! You’ve saved us from a famous actor and his “green” wife
The decision by Hounslow Council to turn down an application by Libdem-supporting actor Colin Firth and his eco-enthusiast Italian wife to stick a large solar panel on their London home has been ratified by the aforementioned Mr Shrimplin, who, whatever his politics, will henceforth be regarded as a conservative hero in this house. (You can read the full story here.) The great man had this to say:
“The proposed solar panel would erode the architectural qualities of the listed host building itself and would cause actual harm to the character and appearance of the Bedford Park conservation area… I am convinced that the harm done to the historic setting and the street scene clearly outweighs the benefits of the project.”
Mr Shrimplin – I want your babies.

When Liberals, ordure and air-circulating devices get together
If anyone was in any doubt that Anthropmorphic Global Warming is a fantasy theory being used by smug, air-headed, self-important interference-junkie nonentities as a source of cushy jobs, with a lot of agreeable international travel and plump salaries thrown in, take a listen to this interview on Melbourne Talk Radio (hat-tip James Delingpole, who tells the story much better than I can).

Climate Change: Richard Curtis and Jonathan Franzen reveal themselves as absolute blisters
The 10:10 Climate Change Campaign (whoever they might be) have just released a video scripted by comedy screenwriter, Richard Curtis. Schoolchildren, company employees and a number of celebrities who all admit they won’t be doing anything to reduce carbon emissions are hilariously blown to smithereens when an eco-enthusiast presses a button.
You can see it here on James Delingpole’s Telegraph blog. (Delingpole does a better hatchet job on this repellent little spec of video excrement than I ever could.)

Nature can just be a real bitch: the simple truth TV News can’t grasp
I’ve never been that interested in natural disasters. I’m not entirely lacking in compassion, but it tends to be directed towards the victims of human evil or stupidity – news of people dying or injured as a result of terrorist attacks or at the hands of murderous fascist regimes affects me much more than a similar number dying in an earthquake or floods or even a tsunami.

The new magical left-liberal approach to politics - say it often ebough and it'll be true!
The Daily Telegraph ran a piece the other day about Whitley Bay’s council sticking up fake shop fronts to cover up the fact that many businesses have gone bust and to create the illusion that their High Street is still thriving. What a perfect metaphor for our prevailing culture of fakery!
