Conservative Hollywood actor James Woods is as splendidly acerbic off-screen as on

James Woods turns 70 on Tuesday - but there's precious little sign of him doing much mellowing. Following his Twitter feed is a bit like watching a highlights reel of lines from his movies:
It's safe to say that, unlike most Hollywood stars, he's not a committed Hillary fan:

The left-wing, cultural-Marxist transgender juggernaut is thundering towards us... a classic liberal-left campaign

If the following recently-posted video makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, you're probably a left-liberal. If it makes you wonder why the parents aren't in court, you're probably a conservative:

This appeared in the Evening Standard yesterday (and I don't think it's a parody):

Why I rarely watch US sitcoms - the relentless TV propaganda war against conservative values

Here’s a list of the US sitcoms – including animated series – I have watched regularly since 1980: Friends, Frasier, The Simpsons, King of the Hill and the occasional episode of South Park. I got into Friends and Frasier because my wife enjoyed them, and I watched The Simpsons and South Park because my son is a fan: the King of the Hill was my own choice. Given how many of the damned things have been shown on British TV, that’s a surprisingly small number. I only realised how few US sitcoms I’ve watched while reading Ben Shapiro’s Primetime Propaganda: The True Hollywood Story of How the Left Took Over Your TV (available here).

Cultural Nazis have taken over the British Film Institute – of course, they already run the BBC

UK Culture Secretary
The BBC announced last month that it is to introduce racial quotas: by 2017, 15% of actors and presenters and 10% of managers will be black, Asian or minority ethnic. Tony Hall, the BBC DG, said, “I want a new talent-led approach that will help set the pace in the media industry. I believe in this and want our record to be beyond reproach.”

Andrew Klavan: the Right is the counter-culture now, and it’s time we started fighting back

Andrew Klavan
The conservative American fiction writer and cultural commentator Andrew Klavan has produced an excellent pamphlet on a subject close to my heart: in fact it’s currently the subject that I most often find myself brooding about in the early hours of the morning. “The Crisis in the Arts: Why the Left Owns the Culture and how Conservatives can Begin to Take it Back” makes a number of crucial points: we are the rebels now, and rather than disdainfully turning our back on modern films, books and TV shows because they’ve been impregnated with socialist propaganda by the lefties who seemingly have an unshakeable Vulcan death-grip on our culture, we need to fight back.

Are Britain’s university-educated comedians ready to stop pretending they’re really uneducated proles?

I would never have guessed that Al Murray (aka The Pub Landlord) was an Oxford man (Modern History, St Edmund Hall, to be precise). Or that Dara O’Briain studied mathematics and theoretical physics at University College, Dublin. Or that Ben Miller has a PhD in quantum physics from Cambridge (actually, that I can believe.) Well, all of them have now freely confessed that – horror! – they benefitted from the most elite of elitist educations!

One of my childhood comic-book heroes is about to turn gay!

Aquaman
I didn’t sleep well last night. Partly it was the heat, partly it was weighing up the question  of whether bankers or dentists are the greediest bastards on the planet, and partly because my son was facing his heaviest day of A-level exams. Whatever, when I started reading the paper this morning I seriously wondered whether I was still asleep as I read a brace of stories that couldn’t possibly be true.

I do wish left-wing creatives would conceal their infantile political views so I could go on enjoying their work

For me, it started forty years ago, when Elliot Gould and Donald Sutherland appeared on Parkinson and, in matching monotones, delivered humourless, left-wing, anti-American propaganda through their effulgent hippie moustaches. Since that nauseating performance, I have never been able to watch Elliot Gould on the screen without recalling what an arse he is (besides being  a truly dreadful actor).

Having lefties in charge of the arts means the taxpayer has to go on footing the bill

The subsidised arts lobby is out in force today, wailing, gnashing its teeth and rending its designer label garments in the streets over brutal Arts Council cuts. The Council has decided – for reasons best known to itself -  not to simply impose a 15% across the board cut (which would strike most of us as fair), but instead to single out certain galleries, theatre companies and other bodies for especially generous treatment, while entirely cutting funding for others.

Do put a sock in it, Macca - you're a political imbecile

Sir Paul McCartney performed for The President of the United States and the First Lady at the White House last week. Why the elected leaders of a republic feel the need to act like monarchs by inviting megastars to perform at their “court” baffles me.

A solid job + conservative views = artistic genius

Charles Ives
I won’t read any novels or poems or listen to any classical music, unless a professional critic somewhere, at some time, has thoroughly approved of them. Isn’t that shameful?

I’m not sure I have ever bought a novel that didn’t have an approving quote on it, or read a poem that didn’t appear in an anthology from a reputable publisher or editor, or listened to a piece of classical music unless some authority has pronounced it worth hearing.

And so, dear reader, I, Lady Antonia, married the poisonous little lefty creep!

Lady Antonia Fraser was on the radio this morning, reading extracts from the book she has written about her adulterous affair with, and subsequent marriage to, the libidinous playwright, Harold Pinter. When their affair started in 1975, the great lovers were both married, and both eventually abandoned their spouses. They were married in 1982. Lady Antonia’s union with Sir Hugh Fraser had been blessed with six children; Pinter’s marriage to the actress Vivien Merchant had produced a son.

Conservative sage Roger Scruton duffs up our institutionally left-liberal Arts Establishment

I was alerted to the fact that the Conservative philosopher Roger Scruton had somehow been given an hour long programme on BBC2 entitled “Why Beauty Matters” by a discussion on Radio 4‘s Saturday Review earlier in the evening. Christopher Frayling, Kathryn Hughes and Danny Robins were invited by host Tom Sutcliffe to sneer, titter and misrepresent Scruton’s ludicrously outmoded view that creating beauty - rather than the glorification of ugliness - is what Art should be about.
